It wasn’t long ago I was still swearing I will never have children. Like those dreams of falling, I jolted into utter awe and respect and realization that I want and will be a mother one day—lost, nutty, and over-loving mother. Being through this “hypocritical” transition, I understand that people see “motherhood” differently. It is one’s choice to be a mother. Yet, becoming a mother is the (one of the) most important natural phenomena in the world; it is worth at least comfortable and peaceful rest from thriving careers.

I believe in maternity leave, just as I believe in paternity leave. Equality does not mean being forced to squeeze our full lives inside the margins of work calendars. Equality is making sure that when the woman returns to her work desk, it is still hers and resembles something like the way she left it.
